I think a lot of our motherhood challenge these days is believing into the lies that everyone else has it better. If we spend too long on social media or are simply looking at the wrong things, we start to become envious of other moms in how they look, what clothes they wear, their tidy homes, perfect-looking moments with their children—at least what appears so from their social media accounts! All the while, we are completely missing the little blessings of everyday life with our own families.
Instead of wishing you were someone else, deliberately choose to put the phone down and have a chat with God. Say, “Thank you,” to God for making you just as you are and that you are one-of-a-kind. Monitor your time on social media and even stop following certain people if seeing their posts unhealthily stirs up a low self-esteem.
Now more than ever, we need to be so careful of what we fill ourselves with—the messages, beliefs, values. Always remember mama, that you have a choice in it all. Choose to be surrounded by God’s truth, nourishing Scripture, and people who affirm your value and worth.
Dear God,
Thank you for loving each of us and creating us to be unique mamas.
More than anyone else’s opinion, influence on social media, or playing the comparison game, help us to place our focus on you.
Woven throughout all the challenges of motherhood are daily blessings to discover if we are willing to seek you first.
Help us to make strategic decisions, online and off, so that we can be healthier mothers, looking to you for our worth, value, identity, and purpose.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
Couldn’t agree more with what you wrote here Joy. May we never take for granted all that we have and can do. Relishing in the blessing of it all rather than get caught up in comparison and discontent.

Amen! What an opportunity we have for love, mercy, entertainment, and mission field work right within the walls of our homes beside our family. They are so worth our time and excitement!
I’ve had to step away from social media because it is too easy to get distracted or even envious.

Thank you, Alicia! Yes, I love how you referenced the mission field as being right in our homes. Absolutely!
